Right Plant Right Place.

In the garden we mostly get it right, occasionally we get it wrong, but that’s ok.

As a new gardener, it’s impossible to avoid your fair share of trial and error, and expense, think ‘Science Lab’ at school, but wasn’t that part and parcel of the fun, the occasional black sooted face and hair resembling Einstein. Even after having read all the ‘How to’ books and watching Monty on the telly, occasionally we’ll still fail… I do anyway.

But take heart, there are people at the top of the horticultural game who are still experimenting, trialling and failing, it’s just that we only get to see and hear of their successes. For all the knowledge and wisdom that’ll be generously shared and imparted to you by seasoned gardeners, this one thing never changes, ‘Right plant, right place.’

However, there’s one small caveat, everyone’s garden (yours too) is unique, from the condition of the soil (the odd buried mattress/builders rubble etc), aspect, micro-climate and the direction from which the wind blows, l know, it’s not easy is it?

The term ‘Happy place’ is the current buzzword, and plants have their own ‘Happy places’ too, it may take a few seasons of moving plants and pots around before discovering that sweet spot, but when you do find it it’ll be obvious and they’ll reward you by putting on a show of gratitude.

The photo is from a small UK company run by two ladies called ‘Poddy & Black,’ and who couldn’t resist ordering a pair of their gorgeous gardening boots… me: aren’t they fab!
